Original Poem

I fell asleep in you
I fell asleep in your bliss
And your thoughts
I never knew I could merge
And melt with one
Your voice trumpets over every
Other sound of the world
I can close my eyelids and
Still see your fantasies through
My awakened eyeballs
They pour down on me like
A cold rainstorm in April
I keep my eyes closed and
Drift away into sleep
I fell asleep in you
I fell asleep in your bliss and
Your thoughts.

For the Greater Good (Part 3)

For those that don't know - "For the Greater Good" is my attempt at doing things nice for the economy and/or mankind. Please see HERE for the first one I did.

As a fanatical music lover, I know that I should be taken behind a dumpster and beaten, then locked in a 3x5 cage for 6 hours all because I am just now buying this product. But hear me out:

Initially, I had headphones that I rocked and they got the job done. Once I blew the speakers because the volume was always on 5,000 I had to settle for the white earbuds that came with my Apple products. Let me tell you that those earbuds suck. I have teeny, elf-like ears and they never stayed in. They hurt and the quality was not as I wanted it to be. But, I'm sort of a cheap person and would have gone to Walmart to purchase some $19.99 headphones if it weren't for a surprise present.

My BD aka My husband, felt very sorry for my ears and decided to bless them.

If you haven't read a review for these, let me just summarize mine: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! That is all.

Beats By Dre
"Not only amazing headphones, a portion of the profits from the Beats Solo HD (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition headphones will go straight to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa."
*Unknown fact - The concept for Beats by Dre came from Jimmy Iovine and Will.i.am...

ALSO -

I added another Out of Print T-shirt to my wardrobe.

Musical Stories

When I hear certain lyrics within a song, it makes me think of a very precise and direct story attached to it. The words can just stand alone and paint a vivid picture in my mind. As you know, I love all kinds of music but of course, my favorite is hip hop/r&b.

Also with my OCD on movie quotes and music, I like a song or an artist into a physical hole. I have played Lloyd Banks "I don't deserve you" at least 437 times. Not only is the video done very well (not creative-like as in anything that Kanye does but still explains a story and has good visuals) but it also has some memorable lines that have conjured some great ideas for short stories...

Such as:

"I think I love you" (the way he says it is like a question almost)
"Here's your heart before I break it"
"See me and you have a magnet in between, that keeps pulling me closer"

And I absolutely love when she calls him and he has to think about everything before answering...that flashback was done nicely! It almost made him look like he was sad about it...um, knowing he wasn't because his hand didn't hesitate to delete her when the other girls opened the door...

Karmaloop - Arrival

I often buy items online and like a kid, I get super excited to track my package. These little presents to myself have a serious journey before they reach me, so I think it's intriguing to be able to see it stop in Kansas, or get scanned in New York or be put on the truck from Montana. I recently bought something from Karmaloop.com (told you I love this place) and I've checked my UPS notifications like everyday...

And right on schedule, I received my box...

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

After 2 weeks of torture, I have finally finished this book. (20 years late, I know) I must say - it has been an interesting journey and I do wish to share it with you:

1. I'm the weird girl who still reads from a physical book. So, it always amazes people on the street when I walk past them engrossed in a novel. They feel that this is an open invitation to comment on my strange behavior. With this novel, all I have been hearing is "oh I love that book!" or "I've read the whole series, how do you like it so far?"

2. I don't like giving my opinion on a book until I've read the entire thing. As a writer (okay so one book may not qualify me as a writer but still...), I don't think it's fair to critique something if you don't get the entire experience. I was going to give a "middle of the book update" a while back but decided against it. Now that I'm finally done, I feel a bit better about what I'm going to say.

IF YOU LIKED THIS BOOK - IT TELLS ME ALOT ABOUT THE TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE!

A. The plot is engaging and a page turner.

B. The details are very gory, involves incest and misogyny and a nice boatload of sadomasochism.

Normally, I wouldn't care if a book had this focus because that's just the story the author is telling. But, I just find it very odd that SO many people LOVED this book. Either they are trying to "fit in" with the current bandwagon craze, secretly love reading about those kinds of details or might just be real literary critics (yeah okay). Anyway, because I fall in the category of the last one, I'll be reading the next two in this series and hoping I can read in peace.

If you read it and disagree with what I've said - feel free to tell me...

For the Greater Good (2)

I've wanted a pair of these for a few months now...so thanks to my passing birthday, I decided to get them.

One for One
"With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need."

Visit their website...here.

The TOMS Story:
In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers.

Radio for Brains

"IF I WERE NOT A PHYSICIST, I WOULD PROBABLY BE A MUSICIAN. I OFTEN THINK IN MUSIC. I LIVE MY DAYDREAMS IN MUSIC. I SEE MY LIFE IN TERMS OF MUSIC." - Albert Einstein.

I completely agree - except switch out physicist for writer...of course I'm not a physicist.

Ambre Anderson

So...this chick is awesome. She is the daughter of a highly-successful Baltimore attorney and she loves to paint. Being the artsy-fartsy person that I am, I found her website many moons ago and loved her ambition. Currently, her face is the inspiration of the main character in my recent novel. My character just so happens to mentally look like her, so when I saw her pic, I was floored that I conjured up a real person!

Here's what I saw:

For the Greater Good

Some people plant trees and others volunteer at Easter Seals. Whatever floats your boat and makes your heart feel warm is perfectly perfect to me. I, however, love literature (as you probably know) and I just did my part by purchasing a shirt. I know, I know, not that great of a gesture but it's an awesome shirt, at least I think and well, I'm still helping...
